There’s a trend these days toward mechanical keyboards, which have mechanical switches under their keys. The switches provide a different feel than you’ll get from the rubber membrane under the keys of most keyboards. They are also built to last longer; mechanical keyboards are often rated for tens of millions more keystrokes than membrane-based keyboards. They’re also much more expensive and are generally much heavier than standard keyboards. If you often push your keyboard around your desk, the weight is something to keep in mind.
